After a digital run in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Central Saint Martins BA Fashion Show has returned to a physical showcase with a new format. In the past, the fashion course would select 40 stand out students, which showcase six to eight looks from their graduate collection. However, this year, the show included almost everyone. 102 designers donned the runway wearing one look from their graduate collection. In natural CSM fashion, the show offered a wide range of mind-bending ideas. The runway was filled with an exhilarating amount of color - perhaps a nod to optimism as life starts to return to normal?
This years graduates can best be described as the "Lockdown class of 2021." They are the first Central Saint Martins M.A. students to have fully worked through the pandemic, a period that many found themselves disconnected creatively from. This is the work of students who fought against all odds to be here, a moment in history.
This year's winner was women’s wear designer Seli Arku-Korsi, who took home the grand prize L’Oréal Professionnel Young Talent Award for his “Awake in Sleep” collection. The two joint runners-up were Karina Bondareva from print and Dylan Etienne-Ramsay from fashion design and marketing. The second runners-up were Ellen Poppy Hill from fashion design and marketing and Jamie Howes from knitwear
